What is Clinical Counselling?
Clinical counselling is a branch of clinical psychology that helps people as they navigate emotional or mental health difficulties.

As a registered clinical counsellor, she provides individual, couple, and family counselling services with the goal of helping you gain clarity, self understanding, and compassion for yourself so that you can experience joy, change old patterns, and discover new perspectives in a safe and supportive place. She can help your reconnect to your deepest values and strengths to become the person you want to be. Creating a practical plan to meet your needs, she offers a variety of evidence-based therapies designed to help you enhance your connections and find new ways of relating to yourself and others.
Regardless of the issues you are struggling with, Laurie will utilize a variety of counselling methods to ensure you receive the specialized support you are looking for. Her approach is to implement a combination of therapeutic practices that are both time effective and uniquely tailored to your needs and goals. She works collaboratively with you to provide the best possible opportunity for lasting positive change. Her practice is informed through extensive training in a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, some of which include:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Retraining (EMDR)
Laurie obtained her Bachelor of Child and Youth Care and her Masters in Counselling Psychology at the University of Victoria. She has many years experience working in a variety of settings throughout greater Victoria, including working on mental health teams, for non-profit agencies, in the school system, and in private practice. Given her breadth of experience, Laurie understands a wide range of mental health concerns and issues. Laurie can assist you in overcoming challenges related to:
